The Opal Mann Green Engagement and Scholarship Award commemorates the legacy of Dr. Opal Hurley Mann Green, a former NC State faculty member, whose career reflected the power of universities to address public challenges through partnership, research and service. The Belk Center was recognized for its role as the official research and evaluation partner for NC Reconnect, a statewide initiative launched in 2021 by the John M. Belk Endowment in partnership with the North Carolina Community College System and myFutureNC. The initiative works with community colleges across the state to re-engage adult learners who previously left college with some credit but no credential, helping institutions redesign outreach, advising and program pathways to better support adults returning to college.

Leadership North Carolina, Class 33 (2025-2026)

Leadership North Carolina’s mission is to inform, develop, and engage committed leaders by broadening their understanding of and involvement in issues and opportunities facing the state.

University of North Carolina System Faculty Fellow (2024-2025)

The Faculty Fellows program each year engages a group of faculty in issues related to academic affairs while offering mentorship and learning opportunities and promoting the effectiveness of the UNC System and its constituent institutions.

North Carolina State University Nominee for UNC System Governor James E. Holshouser, Jr. Award for Excellence in Public Service (2024)

This annual award recognizes sustained, distinguished and superb achievement in public service and outreach, and contributions to improving the quality of life of the citizens of North Carolina. The Holshouser Award is one of three awards the UNC System Board of Governors bestows each year to honor and recognize faculty excellence in the areas of teaching, research and public service.

North Carolina State University Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence (2022)

Intended to be the highest faculty award at NC State, the Holladay Medal for Excellence recognizes members of the faculty whose careers have demonstrated outstanding achievement and sustained impact in research, teaching, or extension and engagement. The NC State Board of Trustees reviews nominations that are selected by its University Affairs Committee in consultation with the Holladay Medal for Excellence Nomination Committee and the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.

North Carolina State University Outstanding Research Award and NC State Research Leadership Academy Inductee (2020)

The Outstanding Research Award honors faculty who lead in their areas of expertise, commit to mentoring their fellow NC State faculty and advance an intellectual, multidisciplinary research community. The Research Leadership Academy (RLA) was established in 2016 and serves as the faculty-driven center for research leadership and faculty mentoring at NC State. The RLA is composed of the University’s most outstanding researchers and mentors from diverse fields.

American Educational Research Association (AERA) Outstanding Publication Award in the Special Interest Group for Graduate and Postdoctoral Education Across Disciplines (2019)

The AERA Outstanding Publication Award is presented on a bi-annual basis and bestows recognition on a colleague or colleagues for a specific publication (book, book chapter, or journal article) judged as making a substantial contribution to the literature and/or practice of graduate education.

North Carolina State University Faculty Equity Award (2019)

Awarded by the university’s Council on the Status of Women, the Equity for Women Award recognizes faculty, staff and students for outstanding leadership in establishing equity for women at NC State.

Champion of Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education, NC Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center (2018)

This award recognizes and honors an individual who provides extraordinary support of science, mathematics, and technology (SMT) education in North Carolina.

Academy of Community Engagement Scholarship, Inductee (2017) 

ACES recognizes exceptional leaders who unite academics and communities to benefit society. The mission of ACES is to provide expertise to policymakers, higher education institutions and organizations, community leaders, and national and international entities interested in addressing complex societal issues through the effective engagement of higher education with community members and organizations. This work is accomplished by recognizing individuals who have worked collaboratively with others to make significant contributions to advancing collaboration between educational institutions and communities, and engaging these individuals in high priority activities and projects that further community engagement theory, policy, and practice.

University Faculty Scholar, North Carolina State University (2016-2017)

The NC State Provost’s Office oversees the University Faculty Scholars Program, which was established by Chancellor Randy Woodson in 2012. The program recognizes and rewards academic leaders who turn research into solutions to society’s most pressing issues.

Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) Mentoring Award (2016)

The ASHE Board honors the noteworthy contributions made by one of our members in mentoring developing scholars in our organization. Mentoring is an essential component in the success of our field. Outstanding mentors are willing to share their knowledge to enhance the scholarly, professional, and personal development of others in our organization. Recipients of the ASHE Mentoring Award will have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to the professional and scholarly development of emerging scholars in ASHE and in the field of higher education
